Seminars, Retreats, Speaking opportunities
Grace for the Heart would love to bring the message of the sufficiency of Jesus to your church or group! The list below gives examples of topics that can be used in groups of all sizes and formats. These messages can be combined for a series of meetings or used individually. They are flexible as to length and level of group participation. Use the "Contact Us" tab to find out how your group can enjoy this message.
Christlikeness?
Is the goal of the Christian life to become like Christ? If it is, how are you doing? Have you walked on water yet? How many people have you healed? And what about that sin? There is a different way to look at the goal of the Christian life… and it does have something to do with being like Christ.
Don’t Give Me That “Old Time Religion”!
For most people, religion is a system of moral behavior based on acceptance of some foundational truth. Even among Christians, religion is performance-based and usually discouraging. The Jews already had religion when Jesus came. Didn’t He bring something more?
Grace > Sin
Does grace lead to sin as some suggest? What would happen if people actually trusted the Lord and sought to follow Him, rather than trying to depend on their own spiritual accomplishments? Grace does not lead to sin. Instead, grace is greater than sin!
How Do You Measure Up?
Does your life please God? How would you know? Have you done enough good things? What about the bad things you have done? Many Christians are desperate for some way to measure their spiritual progress. They want to be sure that they have more good works than bad when the judgment comes. Is this the system Jesus gave us?
It’s not about Sin!
If you ask some people you may get the idea that the Christian life is about sin. We are to avoid sin at all costs and to build our Christian life in such a way that sin cannot enter in. Is it any wonder that young people get the idea that God is just a big policeman in the sky who watches for people who do wrong things? But what if it’s all about something else?
It’s Up to Him!
Well, that’s nice that Jesus came and died for us. At least it gives us a chance, right? But now it’s up to you and me. If we don’t do our part, how will we ever please God and get to Heaven? This is the way some people have been taught to think. But Jesus didn’t come just to get us out of trouble and set us back on our feet. He came to give us Life by being our Life! It isn’t up to us, it’s up to Him!
Just a Closer Walk
Where is Jesus today? We can’t see Him nor do we hear Him, right? Is it possible to live in relationship with Jesus the same way we do with other people? What does it mean to “walk” with Him?
Points!
God is the most important Person of all. His opinion of us is, ultimately, all that matters. But what does He think of you? Does He approve of your life? How do we earn points with God? How do we get Him to notice us and to be pleased with us? It may not be what you think!
The Christian and the Law
There is a renewed emphasis on the importance of following the Law in the life of the Christian. Just what is a Christian perspective of the Law? How do Law and Grace relate in the Christian life?
What Kind of Man is This?
Is Jesus just an ordinary man, a human being like you and me? If He is, how can He be the hope of our salvation? Ordinary men struggle with sin and often fail. Ordinary men often live lives of resignation and quiet despair. Is Jesus just an ordinary man… or is He something more?
Which Way Do You Run?
Two of Jesus’ disciples betrayed Him. One ran away from the Lord. The other ran to Jesus. Which would you be and which would you want your children to be? Should we be afraid of Jesus or drawn to Him when we sin? This presentation is especially valuable for parents who want to teach their children about the love of God and how to handle sin in the context of that great love.
